Please note that this policy applies only to the Commissionís website. If you click on to a link provided on the Commissionís website you are strongly advised to review that linkís privacy policy.

The Commission does not collect ďcookies.Ē The Commission does collect data about visitors to its website. The information collected identifies how the visitor came to the site, the number of visitors to the site, and how long a visitor remains on a page.

On-Line Services

In order to access specific on-line services such as tracking your water consumption, viewing your account, or paying your bill, the Commission requires that you provide your water and sewer account number and access number. These numbers can be found on your water bill. The access number is the last 4 digits of your water meter number and cannot be changed or modified on-line in any way.

While the Commission attempts to protect your privacy to the maximum extent possible, your account number and access number needed to log on to these services is not part of a secure connection. The Commission does however use a secure service for its on-line payment transactions. (See On-line Transactions below)

If you choose not to provide your account number and access number, you will still be able to view all other areas of the Commissionís website. However, you will not be able to view specific information concerning your account.

Visitors to the Commissionís web site have the option of paying water and sewer bills on-line by clicking on ďCheckFreeĒ and entering their account number and access number as it appears on the bill. By clicking on this link, visitors leave the Commissionís website and are directed to the CheckFree site. CheckFree is a secure service used by the Commission to process on-line payments. Information about the types of personal information collected by CheckFree and how it is used and how it is safeguarded by CheckFree may be obtained by clicking on the CheckFree Privacy Policy on the website. The Commissionís on-line payment service uses several methods such as SSL (secure sockets layer) to ensure that usersí information is secure and that such information is encrypted as supported by the userís browser.

Third parties are not authorized by the Commission to use your personal information in any other way. The Commission will not sell, transfer or assign personal information used on the website to any other entity.

Information Voluntarily Provided by Email

The Commission does not encrypt incoming email. Therefore, you should not send any information that you consider highly sensitive through this website. The information you voluntarily submit will be disclosed to appropriate Commission personnel only for the purposes of addressing your concerns or answering your questions submitted through the ďContact UsĒ link on the Commissionís website.

Release of Information

The Commission will release your personal information if required to do so by law, or by search warrant, subpoena or court order. The Commission is also subject to M.G.L. c. 66 sec.10, the Public Records Law. More detailed information concerning this law can be found at the Secretary of Stateís website.
