MWRA VALVE WORK MAY CAUSE DISCOLORED WATER IN HYDE PARK

On Tuesday, August 19, 2008, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s will begin replacing a water valve on Canton Avenue in Milton. This work may cause discolored water in Hyde Park the area near the Milton town line west to the Truman Highway over the course of that week.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. While it is still safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Therefore, residents near this location should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.

Specific questions should be directed to the MWRA Community Relations Manager at 617-660-7976.
