A tributary is a small stream that flows into a larger stream.
The overall objectives of the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) are to ensure the delivery of high quality potable water for consumption and fire protection and the efficient collection of sewage for transport and delivery to the Deer Island Treatment Facility. Below are links to the major construction projects around the City that will improve the water and sewer system:
This sewer separation project is being undertaken by BWSC on behalf of the MWRA and will substantially decrease the number and volume of combined sewer overflows (CSO’s) in the Reserved Channel.
The project is being undertaken by BWSC in conjunction with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). The work will enable the outfall located near Mother’s Rest to be eliminated; thereby improving the water quality in North Dorchester Bay.
This project involves separating the combined sewer system in the Bulfinch Triangle Historic District which will reduce pollution levels in Boston Harbor by substantially decreasing the number and volume of CSO’s into the Charles River and the Harbor.
