Boston Water and Sewer Commission will be performing a Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES) in sections of West Roxbury and Hyde Park from January 2025 until Fall 2025. A site map showing the limits of the survey area is can be found below. This investigation is being undertaken as part of our efforts to identify the specific locations of defects in the sanitary sewer system. Defects in the sewer system allow groundwater and/or rainwater to enter the pipes and manholes that make up the system. Stormwater and groundwater in the sewer system are typically referred to as infiltration and inflow. Infiltration and inflow take up pipe capacity and increase the likelihood of surcharging in the pipes during heavy rain. For more information, click below in English and in Spanish, and also click to access the site map outlining areas that may be affected by the SSES.
