DO NOT FLUSH WIPES - With reports of toilet paper shortages amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission reminds customers that wipes, paper towels, facial tissue, and other materials – even those that claim to be “flushable” – are not designed to break down in the wastewater treatment process.
During this time, it is a great idea to use disinfectant wipes, what's not a great idea is flushing them down the toilet!
Remember that your toilet should not be used as a trash can. Do not treat other items like toilet paper. Please do not flush paper towels, “flushable” wipes, napkins, tampons, cotton balls, dental floss or other substances. Flushing nonbiodegradable items can result in backups and overflows.
