Heat Emergency

Mayor Wu declared a heat emergency in Boston beginning Saturday through Sunday. Cooling centers will be open at 15 BCYF community centers on Saturday and Sunday, and splash pads will be open at parks and playgrounds throughout the City.

The scope of the Dudley project includes upgrading our sewer and water systems and installing new storm drains to separate the flow from the existing combined sewers. There may be a minimal amount of water service disruptions to residents in these areas.

Project Summary

PROPOSED WORK  

The work under BWSC Contract 16-309-011 includes the following:

  • Replacement of 1,770 feet of water mains
  • Replacement of 6,625 feet of sewerage pipes
  • Installation of 5,790 feet of drainage pipes
  • Rehabilitation of 2,745 feet of sewerage pipes

ANTICIPATED IMPACTS

The anticipated impacts include water service interruptions, noise, traffic and parking modifications, rodent activity, dust and general construction impacts.  The contractor will be required to minimize impacts to the extent feasible.

SURFACE RESTORATION

Temporary restoration of roadways, sidewalks and other areas disturbed by construction will be completed under this contract.  Concrete or brick sidewalks will be restored within six weeks, weather dependent. Permanent restoration will occur under a separate paving contract.

  • Aspen Street from Copeland to Dunreath:  lined 12" sewer and 15" drain
  • Cleveland Street from Moreland to Winthrop:  laid 12" drain and replaced 12" combined sewer with 10" sewer
  • Dunreath Street from Aspen Street to #23:  laid 12" drain and replaced 10" combined sewer with 10" sewer
  • Montrose Street from Moreland to Warren:  relaid 10" sewer, replaced 8" sewer with 10" sewer and lined 15" sewer
