DO NOT FLUSH WIPES - With reports of toilet paper shortages amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission reminds customers that wipes, paper towels, facial tissue, and other materials – even those that claim to be “flushable” – are not designed to break down in the wastewater treatment process.
The impacted area is from Broadway to Andrew Square and the Expressway to Telegraph Hill, and the goal is to remove as much stormwater as possible from the existing combined sewer system.16-206-003
Water main and sewer work, where necessary, will occur concurrently, and the project area will be constructed under five construction projects. Working in collaboration with the Boston Planning and Development Agency, the project is currently in the design phase; and construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2020.
Anticipated Project Duration:
Preliminary Design: Spring 2017 to Fall 2018
Final Design: Fall 2018 to Spring 2020
Construction: Spring 2020 to Fall 2027
