The Administration Division provides BWSC and its customers with administrative support services. This Division is responsible for representing BWSC at public and community meetings; maintaining collections and customer services; the installation and repair of meters; and the provision of facilities and support services.

Account Services

Account Services is responsible for maintaining Collections and Customer Service programs.  The Department’s mission is to quickly respond to customer inquiries, resolve disputes regarding customer account balances, reduce outstanding dollars on delinquent accounts, and oversee the proactive customer notification processes for malfunctioning Meter Transmission Units and abnormal water consumption. Account Services also establishes payment plans for customers having difficulty paying water/sewer bills, and acts as a liaison between customers and other divisions within BWSC.

Communications & Community Services

Communications & Community Services produces BWSC's external communications materials, including educational brochures, videos, customer newsletters, and content for social media and the BWSC website. It maintains contact with BWSC customers through several means including local and national press, social media platforms, and direct service with customers at remote sites located in several neighborhoods. The Department promotes BWSC’s Environmental Outreach program with a robust interactive educational presentation given at schools throughout Boston. These environmental messages are also promoted through the BWSC Water Truck, which provides cold refreshing water to participants in city community events from April – October.

Facilities & Support Services

Facilities and Support Services provides for the maintenance, care, security and accessibility of BWSC’s Headquarters and Material Handling Facilities.
Responsibilities include the optimal functioning of the plant’s HVAC, electrical and other systems as well as the integrity of building envelopes and adequate furnishings and janitorial services. The department manages the BWSC's mailroom, coordinates archival services, provides employee transportation services, and procures and distributes office supplies and office furniture.

Meter Services

Meter Services maintains the efficient operation of approximately 90,000 water meters and associated automatic reading devices in the system, ensuring accurate registration of consumption. In addition, the department manages the Hydrant Permit Program for the use of meters during construction. With peers from around the country, the department also participates in the investigation of the latest industry technology and best practices to assure that BWSC customers receive the highest quality service.
